The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has experienced staffing shortages, leading to a significant increase in agent callout rates exceeding 40%. Acting TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill warned that multiple airports may have to close due to insufficient resources. The staffing shortages have led to significant disruption at major airports, with nearly 37% of TSA workers absent at Hartsfield-Jackson and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Over 3,000 agents have been called out and over 480 have quit. Airlines are responding with flexible policies to ease the burden on travelers.
