Sherrill denied access to ICE detention facility in New Jersey

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill (D) was denied access to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in Newark amid protests outside and a hunger strike within its walls. Sherrill, joined by other New Jersey Democratic lawmakers, including Sen. Andy Kim and Reps. Rob Menendez Jr., Nellie Pou and LaMonica McIver, called for the closure of Delaney Hall and for any expansion of mass detention facilities in New Jersey. The governor raised serious questions about ICE's intentions and stated that he would continue to advocate for closure of the facility.
