Minnesota is less than 100 days away from implementing the most detailed PFAS reporting system for manufacturers anywhere, with manufacturers expected to file their data by July 1. However, some industries have complained about the state's website, PRISM, for not being able to handle all the data, which can amount to hundreds of thousands of individual fields. A bill sponsored by Rep. Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, would delay reporting by a full year to July 1, 2027. The Consumer Technology Association has urged lawmakers to push the reporting deadline back. The state's Department of Public Safety (MCA) has responded to companies' concerns about the PRISM system, which they claim to be incapable of handling all data. The reporting requirement applies to any manufacturer whose products are sold or distributed in Minnesota, including some products already exempt from the PFAS ban.
