Braves Manager Walt Weiss Addresses Austin Riley Benching

The Atlanta Braves are set to begin their four-game series against the Washington Nationals without third baseman Austin Riley. Riley will be replaced by utility player Mauricio Dubón after finishing 0-for-10 against the Mets with eight strikeouts. Despite Riley's poor performance, manager Walt Weiss believes he could soon break into a slump. The Braves are currently 63-45, still good enough for first place in the National League East. If they wish to make a deep postseason run in 2026, they will need more out of Riley over the final stretch of the season.
