David Allan Coe, a Country Music Outlaw and a songwriter, has died at the age of 86. Coe rose to fame in the '70s as part of the outlaw country music scene with songs like "You Never Even Called Me by My Name" and "Longhaired Redneck." In the '80s, he had country hits with "The Ride" and “Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile. Despite his success, Coe was criticized for using slurs and racial stereotypes in his songs and for his use of the Confederate flag. His rep described him as a true outlaw and a great singer, songwriter and performer.
