The NBC Sports NBA Power Rankings 2025-26 have returned to their Championship Tier ranking, which indicates teams that could make the Finals but need several key improvements to their chances. The Championship Tier includes teams currently in the play-in, but less likely to reach the final round, such as San Antonio, who are 18-2 since the All-Star break, and Detroit. Dylan Harper, last June's No. 2 pick, has been overlooked due to his smaller role than other players in the top four. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has emerged as the clear MVP frontrunner, averaging 31.4 points per game and 6.5 assists per game. Boston is 9-1 in games Jayson Tatum has played, while the team is not likely to catch Detroit for the No. 1 seed in the East. The Nuggets have found their stride, with Peyton Watson returning from injury.
