Six Dallas city council members have requested that the city remove Cesar Chavez's name from its calendar and rename Cesar Chávez Boulevard. This comes after a New York Times investigation alleged decades of sexual abuse by Chavez, including against United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta. The memo was signed by Council Members Adam Bazaldua, Jesse Moreno, Jaime Resendez, Laura Cadena, Paula Blackmon, and Gay Donnell Willis. The six also recommended initiating a broader discussion about renaming Cesar's Boulevard. The allegations have led to action across North Texas, including removing Chavez street toppers from Northwest and Northeast 28th Street and canceling the annual March for Justice.
