A Department of Public Safety (DPS) unit was rear-ended by an SUV during a roadside stop in south Laredo, Texas. The driver of the SUV had three children in the vehicle, including a 6-year-old girl sitting in front, a 6month-old in a car seat, and a 1-year old. All four were taken to the hospital with multiple injuries. The incident occurred due to visibility issues and the driver and the child were not wearing seat belts. The law in Texas requires that any child under 4 feet 9 inches, usually between 8 and 12 years of age, remain in a booster seat until the vehicle seat belt fits properly.
