Luigi Mangione's attempt to delay his federal trial for murder charges in the murder of healthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2027 failed, as a federal judge ruled that in-person jury selection for his trial will begin on Oct. 5 and opening statements are expected to begin on Nov. 26 or Nov. 2. His attorneys had argued that Mangione is being represented in multiple cases at the same time and needed more time between each trial. The judge set the October start date for the federal trial, which could still begin on June 8. The delay was part of a larger effort to give Mangione some time between separate state and federal trials.
