The couple's initial gift was $200 in cash, which they believe is an internet scam. The woman's husband, however, disagrees, arguing that it's none of their business how Ron spends his money. The author's suggestion of a gift certificate for Ron is considered too judgmental, but the author acknowledges that since you know nothing about Ron, you may not be able to safeguard him.
