The abduction and murder of Sarah Everard, a marketing professional, is set to be dramatized in a two-part series for the BBC by "Philomena" writer Jeff Pope. The series will follow the events of 2021 when Everard was falsely arrested for breaking lockdown rules by a serving police officer, Wayne Couzens, who then raped and murdered her. Couzens was a sexual offender with multiple complaints and allegations against him that were not taken seriously by the police force. The untitled series will examine the circumstances that allowed him to become a Metropolitan Police officer.
