King Charles III sets state visit to United States at Trump invitation

King Charles III of Britain has announced his first state visit to the United States as monarch, set to be held in late April at the invitation of President Donald Trump. This will be the first U.S. state visit for Charles, who became king in 2022, will celebrate the historic connections and modern bilateral relationship between the UK and the US. The king will also celebrate the 250th anniversary of American Independence and will travel to Bermuda. The visit comes amid tensions between Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the Iran war and refusal to let the U.
