President Donald Trump has installed a statue of Christopher Columbus on the grounds of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building adjacent to the White House. This move is part of a broader effort to portray the Italian explorer as a hero, despite recent scrutiny over his legacy. The original statue was destroyed during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. The Italian American Organizations United, which owns the statue, has agreed to loan it out to be placed on the premises.
