The Southern California News Group has compiled a questionnaire for the 2026 primary election candidates in Los Angeles. The questionnaire includes three key challenges facing Los Angeles, including a collapse in basic law and order, rising crime, reduced police presence, and a lack of accountability within city leadership. In his first year, Spencer Pratt plans to hire and deploy 1,000+ new LAPD officers, expand mandatory foot and bike patrols in high-crime areas and establish specialized robbery suppression units. He also plans to implement zero-tolerance enforcement for graffiti, theft, animal abuse and street disorder. Pratt's first task would include overhauling city operations by outsourcing underperforming services and shifting infrastructure work to performance-based private contracts. He plans to fast-track housing permits by cutting approval times in half and deploying a fully digital permitting system to restore efficiency and enhance development. He will also focus on accelerating economic growth to the city without raising taxes and expanding regulatory burdens.
