Sunny Mehta has been introduced as the new general manager of the New Jersey Devils, following the team's failure to make the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. Co-owner David Blitzer addressed the situation before introducing Mehtas, who served in the Florida Panthers' front office for six seasons, as an assistant general manager. He was tasked with overseeing the entire hockey operations department in Newark and will review all aspects of the organization to ensure a successful season. Mehtata also plans to negotiate contracts with players and coaches to improve their performance. He has already had discussions with star Jack Hughes and captain Nico Hischier, but there is no guarantee that head coach Sheldon Keefe will return.
