Police have referred former mayor of Ito City, Maki Takubo, to the Shizuoka District Public Prosecutors Office on suspicion of violating the Local Autonomy Act. During an election campaign, Takobo allegedly falsely claimed she was a graduate of Toyo University. The university's 132 credits were required for her graduation, but she only earned 68.
