The average global price for oil was $179 per barrel at the end of last week, including $187 per barrel in Europe. Michael O'Leary, CEO of Ryanair, warned that European airlines would fail if jet fuel price remained at $150 per barrel or higher. The Trump administration may rescue Florida-based Spirit Airlines, another potential rescue, and several European carriers. However, European governments have historically shown little appetite for bailing out flag carriers, and European Union rules could hinder bailout efforts.
