Detroit police Deputy Chief F.D. Hayes updated on the triple homicide at a gas station on Detroit's west side that left three young people dead. The incident, which began with a drag racing meetup that officers attempted to break up, escalated into a confrontation involving firearms. The individuals were inside a vehicle that fled when police arrived at the gathering and was involved in a crash with another car, leading to their pursuit onto local freeways. The confrontation escalated when the other driver, identified by police as a licensed concealed pistol holder, opened a door and began assaulting the other occupants. Three firearms were recovered following the fatal shooting, and the weapon used by the shooter was legally registered. No charges have been made in connection with the triple fatal case as prosecutors continue to review the case.
