Amazon will add a 3.5% fuel and logistics-related surcharge to its third-party merchants' fulfillment fees in the US and Canada starting April 17. The move comes as the war in the Middle East continues to increase fuel costs. The new surcharge is lower than what is currently being charged by other major carriers and will average around 17 cents per unit in the United States. This follows a similar proposal by the US Postal Service last month that would require approval from the Department of Transportation.
