The Supreme Court has revived a First Amendment lawsuit against street preacher Gabriel Olivier, who used a loudspeaker to call concertgoers "whores," "Jezebels," and "sissies" as they entered an amphitheater in a suburban Mississippi community. The court's decision could have implications for similar ordinances across the country. Olivier had previously been convicted of violating the protest-control ordinance in the city of Brandon, but lower courts had ruled his civil lawsuit against this could not proceed. The Supreme Court previously ruled that people convicted of a crime could not file a civil suit against police or other officials if successful.
