The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) has announced large-scale layoffs of teachers and staff members to cut $50 million a year from the budget and prevent state oversight of the district. The district is cutting 410 jobs, including 146 teachers and another 120 staff members, including 86 administrators. The head of the Cleveland Teachers Union has warned that the fight to save at least some of the jobs is not over.
