Three University of Iowa students were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning at the downtown Ped Mall in Iowa City. The incident occurred after Iowa City police responded to a large fight about 1:45 a.m. local time. Initially, multiple victims were taken to area hospitals for treatment, but later, UI president Barbara Wilson confirmed that three students were shot. The University has not disclosed the conditions of the victims. No arrests have been made. The shooting has been reported to be a "senseless act of violence" that has devastated the university community and its state. The Iowa Board of Regents has pledged to assist with the investigation and has contacted the Department of Public Safety.
