“Avatar” star Sam Worthington has stated that the record-breaking movie series does not face the same studio pressures as other Hollywood mega-franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He stated that “Avatars’s unlike Marvel movies, in the sense of making it feel like an independent movie when we make it, and that that doesn't affect what we do. The franchise has grossed $6.7 billion worldwide and the 2009 original remains the highest-grossing film of all time. The most recent "Avatar" blockbuster, “Fire & Ash” opened in theaters last December and grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide.
