The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA-Angell) has launched mobile spay and neuter services for both dogs and cats, marking the first time in the organization's history that such services have been provided. The program aims to address a nationwide backlog of dogs and cat in shelters needing to be spayed or neutered. Currently, only 25% of dog and 23% of cats who arrived at shelters were already spayed and neutered, according to Shelter Animals Count. A special van will transport these animals to various local animal shelters and aims to perform 200 procedures each month. The service will initially serve dogs and Cats at the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
