Steyer's campaign has been heavily influenced by his efforts to lower costs for Californians and protect middle-class home stock. A recent ad featuring a man named Pablo from Mill Valley, California, depicted financial hardship and highlights his work to secure more funding for public schools and free school lunches for kids in California. Despite this, Steyer chose an affluent Marin County community with a median household income of over $200,000. The average household income in Mill Valley is over $300,000, and a 2021 demographics document stated that "We're more prosperous than most."
