A study by the Houston Association of Realtors has found that rent prices in the Houston metropolitan region have slightly decreased over the last year. The average monthly rent in the region was $2,050 during the first quarter of 2026, down from $2.075 during the same period in 2025, according to the report. However, despite this, affordability remains a significant issue in the rental market. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that the median Houston household income will be nearly $65,000 in 2024.
