Netflix has announced a sequel to its hit Japanese live-action adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo's manga, City Hunter 2, with a global release set for 2027. Ryohei Suzuki will return as the lead character Ryo Saeba, playing a sharp-shooting private “sweeper” and Misato Morita as Kaori Makimura, while Fumino Kimura returns as the detective Saeko Nogami. Keiichiro Shiraki, who directed the first film, returns to direct from a script by Junpei Yamaoka. The sequel will explore further into the world of the original creation, with Suzuki playing the "cool yet goofy" fixer for hire. The first live-actions film for Netflix in 2024 debuted at No. 1 on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list for non-English films and reached the top 10 in 32 countries.
