Bridgeport man charged in double fatal wrong-way crash rearrested by police after court no-show
Published on March 3, 2026.
Wilber Martinez, a 38-year-old Bridgeport man accused of driving drunk and killing two people in a wrong-way crash, has been rearrested by police after failing to appear in court. He had been out on a $500,000 bond since his arrest in August 2023 for a similar incident that killed two people the previous summer. Despite being offered a 17-year prison sentence, Martinez chose not to plead and instead chose a trial. He was found hiding under a pile of garbage on his front porch while police searched for him for three weeks before he was apprehended. He faces multiple charges including two counts of manslaughter with a motor vehicle, reckless driving, speeding over 70 mph, and several other motor vehicle charges.
