The Seattle Seahawks' general manager, John Schneider, has warned that the pending "millionaires tax" in Washington will negatively impact player negotiations. The new 9.9% tax on earnings over $1 million a year would apply to any free agents the franchise signs. Schneider argues that the state's lack of an income tax will disadvantage teams competing against California, which already has a 13% state income tax. However, the Seahawks have signed some players this year, mostly returning players such as Rashid Shaheed, Josh Jobe, and swing tackle Josh Jones. Other top businesses in Washington, like Starbucks, have also seen impacts from the pending tax.
