Consumer Consumers are suing Paramount, five pay-TV and streaming services subscribers in a bid to block the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery, alleging that the acquisition was dependent on the outcome of a stockholder vote in 2026. The lawsuit argues that the merger could result in increased prices, reduced consumer choice, reduced output and quality of entertainment and news programming, and less consumer choice. The complaint also criticizes the proposed acquisition of CNN and other news assets under Paramount's control, arguing that it would reduce the number of independent owners capable of sustaining national television news operations at scale and weaken competitive constraints protecting editorial rivalry, investigative resources, and viewpoint diversity. However, Paramount Skydance dismissed the lawsuit as without merit.
