Wildfire activity in the US is increasing in 2026, with a 126-acre wildfire in Weirsdale, Florida, and an active wildfire near Daytona Beach threatening homes and leading to the evacuation of 80 homes. A wildfire near Highway 76 in Love County, Oklahoma, also threatened homes and prompted an evacuation. The Nebraska Forest Service Fire Management officer, Andrew Giralt, captured these images near the Cottonwood Fire in March 2026. The wildfire is also affecting areas in northwest Oklahoma and Kansas hard hit by recent wildfires.
