President Donald Trump has claimed that the United States was unaware of Israeli strikes on a large gas field jointly owned by Iran and Qatar. The president confirmed the strikes were carried out by Israel, stating that the country "violently lashed out" in anger. The South Pars Gas Field is the world's largest natural gas field, covering nearly 10,000 square miles and producing 9% of the world’s natural gas. Despite this, Axios global affairs correspondent Barak Ravid claimed the attack was approved by the US, citing senior U.S. and Israeli officials. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
