Iranian drones attacked Azerbaijan on March 5, causing a significant disruption in their relationship. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused Iran of a "groundless act of terror and aggression". The Iranian government denied these attacks, blaming Israel for launching a false flag operation. The tension between Azerbaijan and Iran is part of a larger issue related to the development of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity, a trade route that has been leased to the U.S. for 99 years. Tehran fears this route will strengthen the West and Turkey's position in the region while cutting off Iran's access to Armenia. One solution is to repeal Section 907, a law limiting U.K. aid to Azerbaijan unless the president reports to Congress that Baku is taking demonstrable steps to cease all blockades and other offensive uses of force against Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
