Since he became Florida governor, Ron DeSantis has made anti-Blackness a major component of his administration, with both DeSantas and the Trump administrations leading a campaign against reverse discrimination. The claim is that white Americans are being targeted as the most disenfranchised group in the United States due to bias towards African Americans, Latinos, Native American, and other non-white people. The Florida American Civil Liberties Union has accused DeSantes of using his power to control the lives of Black people through coercive and unfair laws that control their bodies. The ACLU argues that this claim is based on a centuries-old lie, with slavery being America's Original Sin. The anti-DEI campaign has targeted Florida's public schools, teachers, universities, professors, and businesses. Florida's Attorney General James Uthmeier has also issued a legal opinion declaring many established DEI and affirmative action measures in Florida’s public and private sectors constitute unlawful race‑based discrimination under federal and state law.
