Aaron Myers, an off-duty security guard accused of fatally shooting 17-year-old Hazrat Ali Rohani, is on trial facing murder and assault charges. The shooting occurred in June 2024 in the parking lot of a sporting goods store in Renton. Rohani was with his cousin and friend when Myers confronted them, believing they were about to commit an armed robbery. Myers allegedly fired seven shots, six of which struck Rohani in the back. Prosecutors claim that Myers ignored warnings from the teens that the weapon was not a real threat. Myers' defense attorney, Mark Middaugh, maintains that Myers reasonably believed the teens posed an imminent threat and that he acted based on assumptions.
