A Sandy Valley family has reported multiple sightings of cougar and coyotes near their homes across Southern Nevada. The family contacted the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), asking for the animal to be removed, but NDOW stated it does not generally relocate wild animals. A spokesperson for NDOW, who has worked in wildlife conservation for decades, said he has never seen a mountain lion in the wild and their range is 150 miles. Coyote sightings have also been reported on the rise across Southern Nevadas, with reports coming in from Henderson, north, south, east, and west parts of the valley, and near the Las Vegas Strip. Officials advise residents to keep pets indoors, remove pet food from outside, and secure their property to avoid attracting wildlife.
