Miriam Lancaster, 84, of Vancouver, Canada, went to the ER after waking up in pain and claims a doctor suggested medical assistance in dying (MAiD), a legal process in Canada where eligible adults can request medical assistance to end their lives. Lancaster was shocked by the suggestion, as she hadn't yet received a diagnosis. Her daughter, Jordan Weaver, said that her mother was offered MAiD for a minor injury that was treatable and was not immediately costly to treat. Despite her ordeal, Lancaster's recovery has been remarkable and she is now living life in full. In a statement to the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), VCH, which oversees VGH, VCH said it is committed to the health and safety of everyone in our care.
