The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a warning to manufacturers of certain Parkinson's disease treatments that can cause vitamin B6 deficiency and seizures associated with it. The drugs containing these ingredients should include carbidopa or levodopa, which are often used to treat symptoms of the disease. The FDA has identified 14 cases of these seizures linked to vitamin b6 deficiency in patients using these drugs. Health professionals should evaluate vitamin Bsix levels before starting patients on these drugs and consider whether supplementation is necessary.
