Artemis II blasts closer to the far side of the Moon

The launch of Artemis II, the first time since 1972 that humans have travelled outside of Earth's orbit, is not a point of no return for the spacecraft. The mission will take a looping path that will take the crew around the far side of the Moon and return them to Earth. If necessary, the U-turn is the fastest way to return the crew to Earth in the first 36 hours of the mission.
