The world's first floating-bridge train, a world first, has been unveiled in Seattle, taking passengers on the new Crosslake Connection portion of Sound Transit’s Link light rail 2 Line from South Bellevue to new stations at Mercer Island and Judkins Park in Seattle's Central District. The public will be able to ride between Seattle and its Eastside neighbors starting on Saturday. Sound Transit CEO Dow Constantine encouraged tech workers in the region to prepare for a significant upgrade in their quality of life, particularly tech workers at Microsoft, Amazon, and other companies whose offices are spread between Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, and elsewhere. The new train will allow commuters to easily get back and forth between home and office without having to plan ahead for traffic, without fear of getting stuck in traffic jams. King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci said that the new train link will significantly change travel habits between tech hubs on both sides of the lake.
