Major health nonprofit accuses its fired CEO of misusing funds

The former CEO of Mesa-based Copa Health, Sharareh "Shar" Najafi-Piper, has been accused of misusing funds meant for vulnerable patients to purchase luxury items such as limousine services, hotel rooms, and football tickets. The lawsuit alleges that while she earned nearly $700,000 per year as CEO, she caused the organization to lose millions of dollars and used the funds for personal expenses.
