Essex County Prison Inmates Will Get Help Rejoining Society Through New Partnership

The New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) and the Essex County Department of Corrections have announced a memorandum of understanding involving the Essex county Correctional Facility in Newark. The program will assist ex-inmates with various forms of identification, social assistance, and legal assistance before they leave the premises. The NJRC will also assist with outstanding fines, fees, and warrants, and provide pre-release navigation of benefits such as Medicaid, SNAP, general assistance and veterans' benefits. The partnership also includes workforce-readiness referrals for training, employment preparation, case management support, job fairs, interview preparation, resume assistance, dress for success, and social-service referrals.
