North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, has used the United States' war with Iran to justify his country's decision to keep its nuclear weapons. In a speech to North Korea's Supreme People’s Assembly, Kim accused Washington of “acts of state sponsored terrorism and aggression” but did not mention Iran by name. He added that North Korea was justified in rejecting US pressure and "sweet talk" to abandon its nuclear arsenal. This statement aligns with US President Donald Trump's recent statements of openness to restarting diplomatic talks with Kim. However, Kim's condition is that the US accepts North Korea as a nuclear power and abandons its "hostile policy". North Korea is believed to have assembled dozens of nuclear warheads and claims to possess operational nuclear weapons and delivery systems capable of reaching anywhere in the US.
