The Nissan Leaf, the original Nissan Leaf introduced in the mainstream market in the 1970s, has been updated for 2027 with enhanced capabilities and a slimmer subcompact-SUV form. The Leaf's most efficient S+ model is rated for a total of 303 EPA-estimated miles per charge, while the base S+ trim is the most efficient model. The cabin is stylish and teched-out, with a sloping rear roof that restricts cargo space. The S+ comes standard with dual 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB-C charging ports. Despite not being well-received off the line, the Leaf's 6.9-second run to 60 mph time is not impressive, but it is expected to compete with the new Chevy Bolt. All models will be able to charge at DC fast-chargers at up to 150 kilowatts, and Nissan estimates a 10-to-80-percent charge will take 35 minutes. The vehicle's fuel economy is estimated at 131 MPGe city and 111 MPGe highway.
