The U.S. military operation against Iran has led to increased security at military bases in San Diego, potentially causing traffic and delays at base entrances. San Diego is a major hub for Navy and Marine bases and has received additional "force protection measures" following the weekend's attacks. The Department of Defense has not increased the force protection level due to an increased probability of a terrorist or other attack, but has instead called for 11 additional measures at bases. Local military families have been informed of additional security measures, including ID checks and bag restrictions, at off-base facilities like Navy Exchange mini marts and child care centers. The Iranian military claimed that its carrier was hit with ballistic missiles, but the US military denied the claim.
