Outdoor recreation is a key sector of the Oregon economy

Outdoor recreation contributed 2.7% of Oregon's GDP in 2024, according to a report from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Despite this, Oregon ranked No. 22 among all states. The sector accounted for the highest shares of GDP in Hawai'i (6.1%), Alaska (5.3%) and Montana (4.9%). Despite a slowdown in GDP from 2023, California led the country in total outdoor recreation spending at $87.9 billion.
