The Tuscaloosa County Commission has purchased the Bama Theatre from the T.C. Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) for $3.5 million. The purchase was made from the county's general fund. The building remains structurally sound, but several infrastructure needs have been identified, including elevator repairs, aging windows, and additional maintenance work throughout the facility. The County Commission also plans to offer office space for groups such as the Toscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Tuscalaosa Community Dancers, and other nonprofits.
