Whitney Pilzer, the music supervisor behind Paramount+’s supernatural mystery series “School Spirits” since its first season, has been instrumental in creating a soundtrack that spans eras without feeling like a jukebox. The show uses its premise as both a narrative engine and a musical one. Pilzer credits Lizzy McAlpine's “Doomsday” for one of the show's most memorable sequences, and the team's music editor Todd cut it in perfectly. She also credits the showrunners for creating a more personal choice of tracks from the ’60s and ’70s. Budget constraints, including music labels and publishers, are a key factor in the process.
