San Jose teenager Miri Ahuja, a freshman at Evergreen Valley High School, has led her initiative, Period Positive Drive, to collect and donate 4,278 period products to HomeFirst, a local organization serving people experiencing homelessness in Santa Clara County. The collection, which included everyday pads and panty liners, included brands like Always, Kotex, Tampax, and Rael Organic. Ahouja hopes this initiative will inspire others to donate and increase the flow of information about menstrual health. Her message also includes bringing men and boys into the conversation about menstruation, which she believes makes it more accessible and more sensitive.
