N Ohio is set for an unusually warm end to March, with temperatures expected to reach 80 degrees, more than 20 degrees above normal, before strong to severe thunderstorms move in. This warmup comes as an active weather pattern settles over the region, bringing several rounds of showers and thunderstorms throughout the week and into the holiday weekend. The National Weather Service predicts that much of Northern Ohio, including Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties, along with Lorain County and northern parts of Medina, Summit and Portage counties, will be under a Level 2 of 5 “slight risk” for severe storms Tuesday, with southern portions of those counties placed under a level 1 “marginal risk. The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of northern Ohio under a "slight" risk. Despite this, severe weather is not expected widespread flooding, but significant rainfall is expected. The Cleveland Guardians host the Chicago Cubs in their sold-out home opener on Friday.
